Our friends at the TOKOKYUDOJO will be hosting a one-day outdoor practice at the Garrison Institute. We will practice the Hekiryu Bishu Chikurin ha form of Kyudo. There are makiwara set up as well as distance targets.
*NOTE: NYBA is just attending a Tokokyudojo monthly practice. These events are only open to students who have previously taken FIRST SHOT with NYBA and have been given permission to attend. New students will not be permitted to attend without clearance from NYBA to ensure that a senior NYBA member will be in attendance as well. Non-NYBA members are always welcome to contact Tokokyudojo independently to coordinate First Shot with them.
If you plan to come (or think you might come on either day), you need to RSVP to receive an update with the finalized date and other details.
This practice session will include something special. Losar (Tibetan New Year) was February 18 – 20. In keeping with our longstanding Tokokyudo tradition, we held the last shot of the year on February 14 and will celebrate the new year with a first shot of the year at our March practice. The format includes a demonstration followed by sequential individual first shots. It will be a festive morning and possibly a more elaborate lunch than usual.
Please bring something special if you can. This is also an opportunity to dress up, with kimono, red hakama, silk gi, or whatever…
If you need a ride from the Garrison train station, let us know in advance.
