NYBA KYUDO will be having our annual dojo maintenance day where we clean and care for yumi, ya, kake, targets, nets, stands, equipment closet, etc.
NYBA happily provides Kyudo equipment for our members use. To ensure it remains safe and properly maintained, all NYBA Kyudo members are strongly encouraged to attend this class to help care for the dojo equipment and learn how to maintain their own gear properly. Phil Sensei will lead the class in specifics and details.

HOW TO STRETCH THE YUMI
Stretch the yumion a secure surface. Hold the yumi with the lower end in the groin area and press the bow down in a controlled manner with your left hand until you can hook in the tsuru with your right hand. Make sure that the knots are correctly positioned. The kami no shigake (knot winding at the top) is directed to the right. The shimo no shigake (knot winding at the bottom) is directed to the left. The knots are also called ‘Tsuru wa’.HOW TO WRAP THE GRIP ON THE YUMI
